THE DESIGN FORECAST FOR 2016
From new trends to classic revamps, what’s on the Interior Design forecast for 2016?
Whether you continuously curate your space or simply plan refresh projects from time to time, there’s nothing quite like the journey of making a space your own. That’s why some of us are total interior design mavens! This year, the wonderful year of 2015, has seen some pretty fantastic trends across all styles from contemporary to avant-garde to minimalist. Our favorite trend? Well, that’s easy — concrete of course! As a brand that kick-started the concrete décor craze, we’ve had a great time creating, experimenting and expanding the Design Twins brand. It’s crazy what a little imagination and hard work can bring you!
Now it’s time to forge ahead… With the developments of 2015 laying the foundation, we’re forecasting a few exciting interior looks to smile at in 2016. The inspiration never stops!
HARDWORKING FABRICS. When paired with subtle, sexy silhouettes, creating depths of textures through fabric creates a flow of stylish comfort. Try fur throws over velvet, patterned rugs with multi-patterned pieces of furniture or attention-grabbing drapes. There’s a lot of emotion in textiles, down to the touch, so really use this component of your decorating arrangement to coincide with your personality for a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
THE YEAR OF THE BULBS. As we mentioned last week, open-faced light bulbs are taking over the interior design world. There’s so many ways to embrace and personalize this trend in your home. We absolutely love it.
UNIQUE TABLEWARE. Move aside silverware; stainless-steal-ware is welding its way into our kitchens. Also, we’re seeing a true interest in more traditional-inspired tableware such as medicinal-esque glass carafes or miniature, simplisitc pinch pots.
METAL HEAD. And the bling continues… Platinum, gold, copper, steel and all the sheens in-between — with this look, it’s about adding drama. To get the most out of this appeal, be brave and inject some geometric patterns or contrasting marks.
THE COLOUR FACTOR. While it seems strange colors should fad away, they actually do. This year, we’re expecting a few tones to take the reigns: various shades of pink, red “meat” and peach. Take out any gloss, and the subtle muted pink lipstick, against natural wood, is a winner. (image via)
RAW. While bright white, and black and white paired together, always remains classic, this year we’re going to be seeing a greater takeover of the raw. From bare concrete to combinational wood schemes filled with greenery — or lack thereof — this stylish trend is sleek and nature inspired.
